Job Description


Based in La Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland), the Application Engineer’s role is to:

• understand customer’s application motion need, develop requirements related to the motor and identify the optimal motor solution,

• manage new project opportunities within a global and cross functional organization to drive growth in Europe,

• provide a technical support on new and existing businesses,

• make sure the solution proposed to customer are in line with the internal business filter in term of market, product offer and profitability.


Key Responsibilities:

• Answer new project business leads: understand project needs, size new business opportunities and establish value proposition,

• Deliver optimal technical and commercial proposition to satisfy customer requirements,

• Manage projects from prototyping to product qualification within a global and cross functional organization,

• Support changes requested by customer on running business,

• Responsible for handling customer folder: specifications, products and projects deliverables,

• Provide technical training to the sales team to improve product knowledge and optimize value proposition,

• Support marketing activities to improve visibility on the market by delivering whitepapers, technical notes, application notes,

The position of application engineer can involve traveling to visit customers (approx. 25%).

Job Requirements

Requirements for the Position:


Engineer degree or equivalent (Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree), HES/EPFL



3 or more years of experience in the following field:

- Project management,

- Mechatronics & automation engineering.


Essential Competencies:

• Technical

- Electro-mechanical physics law,

- Cinematics / dynamics calculation,

- Motion control / loop regulation,

- Thermodynamics (thermal calculation),

- Comfortable reading drawings: geometry, tolerance, stack-up calculation.

• Commercial and customer centricity

- Capture the needs of the customer, understand pain points and value drivers

- Translate requirements into technical requirements

• Project management

- Good organization skills, ability to work several projects in parallel,

- Self- starter, proactive attitude with a strong sense of project ownership,

- Independent worker but comfortable with team-work,

- Summarizing skills: ability to describe a project / situation clearly and efficiently.

• Communication

- English: Fluent in writing and speaking (required),

- French and/or Italian fluency a very strong asset,

- Any other language a plus,

- Comfortable with customer exposure and engagement, including cold calling through telephone, video calls, etc.

• Computer skills

- Office work: Excel, Power Point,

- Design / CAD: Solid Works, Matlab, Simulink or equivalent.
