Job Description

The Area Sales Manager directs business efforts in Italy as well as in other specified regions and accounts. S/he has complete ownership of the sales process in the assigned region, from lead generation to closing of the business, including local marketing activities, business development, funnel management, managing key accounts as well as channel partners, and developing, in collaboration with management, the long-term strategy for the assigned territory. The Area Sales Manager creates and implements sales and marketing strategies, as well as manage Key Accounts and New Opportunities Funnel that will result in an increase in Portescap product sales and market penetration/expansion within the designated accounts and/or regions. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to manage the complex selling process, consisting of engagement at all levels of a prospect organization, from engineering & technical teams to senior management, including understanding of when and why to engage at the various levels within such accounts. Able to work in a multi-channel environment, assess and provide constructive feedback to Distributors, develop a territory growth strategy and execute various initiatives to win in assigned territory. 
  • Responsible for managing Key Accounts, Leads and a Funnel of Projects in the assigned territory; maintaining and growing share at existing accounts; and calling on new accounts.
  • Primary duties include increasing share at defined accounts and developing / growing new business through completing account reviews, presentation of new products, negotiation on price and contracts, interfacing on a technical level with customers and the internal teams to assist solving problems and move opportunities through the customer new product development and qualification.
  • Other duties may include completing VOC (Voice of the Customer) work in support of new product development; working with Marketing to introduce new product lines to customers; developing and maintaining strategy, tools and processes to aid selection and manage Distributors (including E-Commerce partners); or as assigned.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Native Italian speaker and fluent in English. Additional languages a plus.
  • Willingness to extensive travel (50%) within the designated markets and production facilities
  • Must be able to develop relationships at all levels

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering (preferred) or related is required with three to five years of front-line sales experience (Sales Manager, Application Engineer, Business Development or other similar role) in the targeted market.
  • Experience within the motion control industry is preferred
