Job Description

Individual will manage corporate U.S. payroll operations for a publicly traded company ensuring that all employees are timely and accurately paid. This position will include responsibilities related to managing, coordinating, and executing all payroll and compliance activities. They will supervise the corporate payroll staff and work closely with Business Unit payroll on a regular basis.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supports and maintains system and data integrity - managing/updating control tables, implementing new business rules, and managing security.
  • Apply documented rules, past practices, or instructions on an independent level.
  • Assists to establish and maintain system policies and procedures.
  • Respond to standard and semi-complex payroll related inquiries from customers or employees.
  • Conduct regular reviews of current payroll processes to identify areas of process improvements and standardization.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of various payroll reports and record audits to customers and management.
  • Ensure all year-end and all other associated processes are completed accurately and on time.
  • Provide high level of customer support and ensure positive customer interactions.
  • Work in a team environment coordinating with other team members in the processing of payroll.
  • Maintain compliance with all payroll related regulatory and internal requirements including effective internal controls.
  • Work closely with Corporate HR on system needs and system improvements.
  • Performs other related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Proven proficiency in understanding payroll regulations, laws and processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of payroll process and principles as well as system/data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of union contracts and specific pay policies.
  • Solid computer, organizational, analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of payroll processing within a shared services environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in investigating and resolving standard and some complex customer payroll issues.
  • Complete self-initiated training necessary to remain current on payroll practices relevant to the companies supported.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to learn new things.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
  • Goal, metric, and results-oriented, with the ability to establish a strong sense of responsibility, accountability, and enthusiasm among the teams with which he/she interacts.
  • Able to navigate conflict, work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes.
  • Must be organized and possess strong time and project management skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work on projects alone or in a group setting.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is required.
  • 7+ years of payroll experience serving multiple business units and FEIN’s.
  • 2+ years experience managing employees required.
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and/or CORT payroll systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of E-time and/or Kronos Workforce Ready time and attendance systems preferred.
