A Customer Sales Associate works in a team environment to improve the Customer Experience and drive inside sales growth, supporting their portfolio of customer accounts comprised of OEMs and Distributors.  Customer Sales Associates are considered business partners who understand their customers’ markets, customer base, operational model and business opportunities.  They are expected to respond quickly to customers’ inquiries while engaging in voice of the customer (VOC) initiatives, keeping an open channel for customer ideas that increase automation; facilitate ease of doing business and drive organic growth.  Establishes strong curriculum with technical support leadership to develop technical prowess resulting in closed opportunities.       

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Professionally and proactively communicates with internal and external customers, building partnerships to achieve desired business results.
  • Processes orders, quotes, return material authorizations, credits, debits, expedites, change orders, and customer escalations.
  • Monitors order status and serves as the liaison between internal key stakeholders and customers.
  • Participates in price negotiations beyond published pricing for new business opportunities.
  • Communicates regularly with customer contacts, mostly Buyers, to grow the business and gain market share.
  • Demonstrates strategic account management skills with the ability to resolve customer issues / escalations.
  • Strong team building skills and capable of working and collaborating in a team environment.
  • Infrequently participates in customer visits with Sales to cross-collaborate on strategic growth initiatives, increase business acumen and marketing knowledge.
  • Maintains customer master data integrity / accuracy in SAP Customer Relationship. Management (CRM) software and supports new customer and part number set-ups.
  • Designated contact for special projects and contributes to Kaizen events.
  • Work with the Area Sales Managers to amplify their efforts in the field.
  • Familiar and comfortable working in a Business-To-Business (B2B) environment.

Job Requirements

Critical Competencies

  • Ability to negotiate and influence customer decision making while partnering with Sales to win business.
  • Analytical skills while reviewing customer data and reports.
  • Ability to react quickly and intelligently in high demand situations.
  • Ability to quickly learn SAP, SAP CRM, Esker, schedule agreements and customer portals.
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to act as liaison between business units and customers to determine mutually beneficial solutions.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2-years customer service experience.
  • Prior experience working in an ERP System(s).
  • Prior customer service experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Prior internal sales experience selling engineered products is preferred.
  • Previous experience discussing technical aspects of products preferred.
