Job Description


Creates CAD drawings for new product configurations, details the components, updates, maintains CAD models and works with production operations to facilitate needs and creates bills of materials. Also creates designs, conducts product analysis of products, and communicates with customers about their needs and requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Model parts and create detailed components drawings
  • Create component process sheets when needed
  • Revise engineering documentation including MK8/SAP data, BAAN files, Pro-E and AutoCad files, Access database and other spreadsheets
  • Assist with Lean manufacturing activities such as 4-S and Kaizen activities
  • Perform part numbering and data base entries
  • Perform data management to department standards
  • Provide appropriate support for manufacturing department
  • Accurately maintain electronic drawing files and revision control
  • Correct design inaccuracies without supervision
  • Other duties as assigned.

Critical Competencies 

  • Language Skills – The ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, operation instructions, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements                                                                       

  • Associates Degree with an emphasis on Design/Drafting is preferred
  • At least two years of experience in design software
  • Knowledge of sources for component parts used in development
  • Thorough understanding of industry accepted design standards
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
