Job Description

Jacobs Vehicle Systems is recognized as the industry leader in developing and manufacturing commercial vehicle retarding systems is offering an exciting opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in mechanical engineering. Students are given the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to address real world business needs. While internships are typically technical in nature, our program also includes a human element which requires strong leadership and communication. We believe this combination enables the development of both interpersonal and professional skills of the intern.

Students will be allocated to an engineering group, Product Development or New Technology, and will be assigned project-based work. Some project examples include, but are not limited to, initial concept and design, designing and building test fixtures, and supporting product development by investigating quality defects and implementing corrective actions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with engineering mentor to support product design, testing and production.
  • Product/feature specification development.
  • Gain thorough knowledge of JVS technologies and their application on diesel engines.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Additional responsibilities may vary based upon the immediate needs of the business.

 

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of diesel engines and valve train systems
  • Experience in 3D CAD modeling using Creo, Solidworks or comparable system
  • Able to participate in team initiatives as well as maintain a sense of autonomy
  • Must be self-motivated and ambitious
  • Actively seeks out solutions to identified problems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Available 40 hours per week; Monday-Friday

Education:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Seeking Junior or Senior level students
