Job Description

The Import/Export Compliance Administrator will ensure legal compliance with applicable import and export laws and regulations and will serve as a subject matter expert for all import and export topics. This role will assist in the development, deployment and monitoring of Kollmorgen’s trade compliance program for the North America businesses. The scope of work includes policy development and audits; awareness and training; and the facilitation of internal and external assessment processes. Applicants should be self-starters with a passion to push the Kollmorgen trade compliance to world class standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assign Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes to new/existing products and maintain a database for US Customs Brokers
  • Assign Export Classification (ITAR/EAR) to new/existing products and maintain records to ensure adherence to regulations
  • Ensure proper use and administration of ITAR/EAR authorizations, exemptions, and exceptions in accordance to laws and regulations
  • Prepare and submit export license applications and classifications requests, as required
  • Provide technical assistance and training to employees on relevant trade compliance laws, regulations and company policies
  • Maintain a recordkeeping program in compliance U.S. Customs
  • Assist in the development and deployment of Kollmorgen’s trade compliance program and policies
  • Establish and maintain an effective audit program to ensure both internal and external adherence to Kollmorgen’s trade compliance policies (Customs Broker Scorecards, Shipping Audits, etc.)
  • Oversee Country of Origin and Valuation determination
  • Perform NAFTA and other Free Trade Agreement qualification analysis
  • Perform data analytics; develop, generate and maintain key performance indicators
  • Provide support to the Shipping, Customer Service, Purchasing, Sourcing, Accounting, Engineering and Supply Chain Departments on issues related to import and export compliance
  • Research and keep up to date on compliance related topics, including but not limited to ITAR, EAR, and OFAC and apply to on the job tasks and inquiries

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business or applicable on the job technical experience required
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is required
  • Previous Import and/or Export knowledge preferred
  • Experience with Oracle/Noetix is preferred
  • Previous Operations and/or Engineering experience preferred
