The Ladle Liner is responsible for maintaining, repairing and replacing the protective liner inside the production ladles, and assists in the pouring process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operation of air chisels of varies sizes.
  • Chipping and patching all production ladles.
  • Monitor ladle life and make repairs as needed.
  • Keep a record of reline and major repair activity.
  • Grease all production ladles at the prescribed frequency.
  • Maintain torches needed for ladle preheating.
  • Operate overhead crane used to move carrier ladles.
  • Operate forklift to move pouring ladles to and from production lines.
  • Operate forklift to position and reposition ladle during the pouring of production molds.
  • Record pour details such as weight, time and iron temperature.
  • Chip away slag from fixtures and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain an ample amount of material for ladle reline and repair activities.
  • Assist in melting furnace reline activities.
  • Skim slag from furnaces.
  • Assist in getting gray and ductile material samples.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Critical Competencies

  • Strong eye to hand/foot coordination, specifically for controlling a powered industrial vehicle.
  • Ability to follow directions and standard work procedures
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Heightened safety orientation

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1 or more years of previous Foundry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar

Physical Demand and Work Environment:          

Work environment includes regular exposure to noise levels at or above 85 decibels, dust particles, sparks and exposure to extreme heat.  Use of vibrating equipment.  Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required to be worn during shift.  Working near furnaces that produce elevated magnetic fields.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 75lbs, standing for long periods of time, good hand and finger dexterity, and ability to lean, bend, twist, and reach.
