Job Description

Provide a wide range of engineering management skills and knowledge in all areas of manufacturing requiring close coordination with supervisors, quality control, production control, and maintenance environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, improve and install integrated systems involving people, materials and equipment.
  • Conduct independent evaluations, selection and application of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgement in the completion of assigned projects.
  • Provide solutions to several manufacturing problems through productivity as well as enhance the highest standards of quality.
  • Participate in a variety of projects designed to reduce the facility’s technical problems including plant layouts, process evaluation, budget analysis, and equipment and tolling selection and installation.
  • Maintain close cost budget control of all projects, analyzing costs to actively implement cost reductions and productivity improvements.
  • Objectively explore and evaluate new equipment and processes including providing recommendations for purchasing high cost capital equipment.
  • Travel as needed to support customer, supplier and training needs.
  • Work closely with all cross-functional members of the Kilian team.

Job Requirements

Critical Competencies

  • Knowledge of ISO and/or IATF quality standard, PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis), Control Plan, VA/VE (Value Analysis/ Value Engineering) practices.
  • PLC Programming experience.
  • Proficient with the use of Autodesk Inventor software.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP software desired.
  • Have knowledge in the areas of manufacturing, machining, CNC programming, Electrical machine controls, and gauging.
  • Skills operating a personal computer to complete daily tasks is essential.
  • Proficiency in English language skills, including effective verbal and written communication.
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects in an organized and timely manner.
  • Willingness to learn, share ideas and grow professionally.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing and in-depth knowledge of related engineering practices.
  • Automotive background preferred.

Physical Demand and Work Environment:          

  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours, including overtime and weekends as required.
