Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop methods, procedures and schedules to conduct a continuously improving quality process.
  • Liaising with Production team on cost reduction and inventory.
  • Streamline flow of products to reduce product and transactional costs.
  • Responsible for writing routings and manufacturing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Ensure implemented SOPs are clearly communicated to all affected individuals and training is provided as required.
  • Managing transition of new products and technology into the production area.
  • Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews.
  • Evaluate and approve drawings, routings / MI’s, specs and other documents.
  • Design and procure tools and equipment.
  • Process development and documentation of manufacturing work instructions.
  • Support prototyping activities of new product development.
  • Evaluate and solve production problems.
  • Identify and quickly resolve problems through root cause problem solving.
  • Develop and document CNC programs, machine setup sheets, manufacturing standards and instructions. Verify these items are understood and sustainable.
  • Create and proof programs (as needed) for CNC (computer numerical control) machines
  • Lead and/or actively participate in kaizen team activities
  • Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards
  • Work closely with Design Engineering on product design changes and/or new product development to include evaluation of tooling, fixtures, and work stations.

Job Requirements

Critical Competencies

  • Ability manage and deliver multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience and knowledge of machining and assembly practices, tools and fixturing.

  • Proficient experience of working as a team.
  • Familiar with product construction and application.
  • Fully competent and knowledge of production scheduling and machine shop operations.
  • Highly organised and self-motivated individual, with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong leadership and presentation skills; with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within a challenging/changing situation.
  • Proficient within MS Word, Excel; PowerPoint; particularly in shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications.
  • Experience and knowledge of working within an electrical engineering industry.

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent, or
    5+ years experience manufacturing environment (automotive preferred.), or Combination of education and multiple years experience. 

    PLC programming experience.

    Have knowledge in the areas of manufacturing, machining,CNC programming, Electrical machine controls, gauging and quality systems.

    Proven track record of successful project facilitation and completion.

 

Physical Demand and Work Environment:          

The environment is subject to changes of temperature, noise and dust.  The post holder is expected to have a definite presence in the factory and office areas.  The post holder will be allocated office space; however, this hands-on role requires a range of daily activities.
