Job Description

The Oracle System Administrator is responsible for managing the system application and user security for the Oracle E-Business Suite ERP applications. This individual has responsibility for all aspects of user support, including the efficient operation of the application components during implementation. Once implemented, the System Administrator will be responsible for ongoing health and maintenance of the system applications. The System Administrator will also be the primary contact and liaison between the user community and third-party service providers.  Work performed by this position will impact the performance and reliability of centralized applications which supply critical information to the business and will have a direct impact on Altra Automation Group employee productivity and customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Controls access to Oracle 11i and third-party applications. The system administrator ensures proper authority has been given to users to perform their assigned tasks including the creation of custom responsibilities where needed in the application.
  • Coordinates internal and external resources for performing necessary maintenance to ensure reliable operation of the applications and business continuation support.
  • Prepares periodic audits of user activities, selects audit intervals and audits data selection criteria.
  • Manages open issues and coordinates DBA requests. Escalates to appropriate parties for resolution or develops plans to mitigate risks identified.
  • Sets system profiles at the user, site and operating unit level.
  • Ensures necessary documentation for procedures, technical reference, security authorizations etc. is created, periodically reviewed, and available.
  • Configures and monitors system-wide concurrent processes.
  • Is responsible for the setup of output devices within the operating environment and application, including the administration of output management utilities.
  • Monitors and troubleshoots application health using basic operating environment tools.
  • Works closely with the OS administrators, Oracle DBA, and Oracle ERP Support teams to resolve data and performance related issues.

  • A demonstrated commitment to quality
  • Strong knowledge of system security techniques and methods
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP system administration utilities
  • Key knowledge, skills and abilities that are required and not already covered in the duties and responsibilities.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not mandatory
  • Minimum 5 years of experience initiating and supporting IT activities
  • Experience supporting an ERP application is required
  • Any mix of professional certification, experience, and college education will be carefully considered
