POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Technician’s responsibilities include assisting with the development of quality systems, procedures, and quality controls to ensure that products consistently meet performance and quality specifications.  The Quality Technician is a strong technical resource who quickly, effectively, and permanently resolves quality problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned. 

  • Manages and reports-out the contents and results of the MRB cage process.
  • Set up and operate CMM/IMM.
  • File and maintain quality records (PM Sheets, Red Tag, and RMA data Entry).
  • Calibrate gages and enter into computer file when required (PMI Cal).
  • Provide direction to our returned material area to ensure RMA process is working effectively.  Take root cause issues from the RMA area back to the cells for corrective action (work with team to enforce CA/Rework/Replacement).
  • Administer the document control process as directed by quality manager (customer surveys).
  • Work with Quality Manager to implement Altra Business System tools into our quality process (ISO9001 audits and prep).
  • Manage QA Lab Priorities.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement
  • Skilled at effective communication
  • Strong computer skills, a high degree of Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Understanding of quality concepts in a Lean Manufacturing Environment
  • ISO 9001 experience
  • 8D experience
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, particularly Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Creating proper documentation that describes how processes are executed and how problems are detected
  • Ability to conduct data analyses and statistical assessments
  • US Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Green Card holder (for ITAR purposes)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School education or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1 year working in a Manufacturing environment or equivalent education (Bachelor’s degree) required; 1 - 3 years of quality related experience preferred
  • Vietnamese and Chinese language skills a plus

SCOPE AND IMPACT OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position significantly impacts internal and external quality, cost drivers of the Fremont Facility product lines, and has customer facing responsibilities.  Individual must be technically proficient to “troubleshoot” issues relating to quality and quality systems.  This position must focus on customer expectations and strive for continuous improvement resulting in improved results for him or herself, customers, and the Fremont Team. 

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

The Quality Technician will work closely internally with the Quality Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Operations Manager, manufacturing associates, and manufacturing engineers.
