SUMMARY

Join our IT Shared Services team as we work together to provision, secure, and manage the technology and services which support all aspects of designing and manufacturing motion control and power transmission systems for customers around the world, providing continuous and secure operations.

 

You will play a key role in the implementation of services, data integrity, business contingency procedures, and security of the environment.  This will include actively participating in daily, proactive management and administration tasks.  You will have ownership of and/or participate in various assigned projects and will leverage best-practices and standards to make administration more effective and more efficient. The successful candidate will be responsible for all facets of system administration design, documentation, implementation, capacity planning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and standards compliance. He or she will also assist with deploying enterprise applications in a manufacturing environment and will manage IT policies and procedures in collaboration with the IT Director.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primary role includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing server hardware, software, and related technologies in the datacenter and the cloud upon which global business operations depend
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, policies, and best practices for local site administrators and administrators world-wide. Provide level two support to the service desk team.
  • Monitor and manage computer and storage systems within datacenters and the cloud and report to management on any issue that could significantly impact the business
  • Monitor and manage enterprise backup jobs daily, correcting issues as necessary, and perform recovery as necessary
  • Translate requests for IT resources into a solution design which will meet the requirements of the business and provide information required by operations to obtain necessary funding for a project
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery; ensuring information systems documentation and procedures are kept current and relevant
  • Conduct testing of compliance controls and provide responses to audits
  • After-hours and weekend support typically required four to eight times per year

Job Requirements

Critical Competencies

  • Broad understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, SMTP, SNMP, BIND/DNS, SSH/SFTP, SMB, etc.)
  • Virtualization – Hyper-V: maintain and build systems from templates or from scratch via ISO file. Know how to access a VM from the console and perform troubleshooting.
  • Data Availability and Data Integrity solutions (e.g., RAID, enterprise backup/restore, etc.)
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate well with users/customers/coworkers – verbal, in-person, e-mail, IM.
  • Must be comfortable working as part of a team including local and remote members to achieve project objectives.
  • Strong technical writing ability
  • Problem solving and root-cause analysis
  • IT service management principles and IT Infrastructure Library

 

Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a Computer Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in systems administration
  • Experience managing Windows server operating systems, Hyper-V clusters, and Active Directory
  • Industry certifications (CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation, MCSA) preferred
  • PowerShell scripting or similar programming experience preferred
  • Relational database administration experience preferred
  • Solaris or Linux systems administration experience preferred
  • Azure Solutions Architecture experience preferred
