Job Description


The Cybersecurity Technical Analyst (“the Analyst”) will work with the Cybersecurity and IT teams and the businesses to manage risk and monitor the security health of the Organization’s IT systems and related processes and data.  The Analyst will utilize the security tools in place to monitor the internal and external IT resources for issues, vulnerabilities, and attacks.  They will document and communicate these events with the IT team and develop and oversee remediation plans with the business and monitor and report on remediation activities. Remote work option within the USA is available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Streamline reporting of KPI’s from security tools in a summarized manner
  • Assist cybersecurity director in managing security projects
  • Partner with external resources to monitor company IT resources and processes for security issues, vulnerabilities, attacks and recommend organized remediation strategies.
  • Provide regular site / division level reporting and trending of security health including vulnerabilities, standard configuration adherence to IT processes
  • Work with network team to reconcile security tools in place to ensure completeness of coverage and security of all devices.
  • Work with the security team, IT team, and business to develop and deploy secure processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Work with infrastructure team to set measurable and achievable objectives to improve Altra’s security posture.
  • Stay current on IT security trends and developments.
  • Coordinate security alert investigation with Security Operations team
  • Investigate security breaches and cybersecurity incidents.
  • Engage with outside agencies and peers to stay current on the latest threats and trends
  • Evaluate new software and hardware acquisitions to ensure adherence to security processes.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work as a team, including local and remote members to meet service objectives
  • Understanding of key security concepts and best practices and standards
  • Reporting skills using Excel, Power BI, SmartSheets, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and influence change

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate degree in Computer Technology or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Information Technology
  • Demonstrated experience deploying and using security hardware and software tools (firewalls, AV, SIEM, IDPS)
  • Patch management, penetration testing, or vulnerability management experience preferred (MECM, Tenable, Solarwinds, WSUS, InsightVM)
  • Security Certifications a plus (CISSP, CISM,CEH, CRISC, CISA, etc.)
