Job Description

Process customer orders for shipment in a warehouse and manufacturing shop environment. Includes kitting and packaging of parts. Should possess knowledge of the parts in order to review customer orders. Will be required to work in high places and operate lift trucks at times. Should take a leadership role in training and assisting team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment and work in a safe manner
  • Review work orders for accuracy and report any discrepancies
  • Receive product into proper inventory location if needed
  • Kitting, assembly, and packaging of parts
  • Working knowledge of parts
  • Review customer orders for accuracy and detail
  • Process any customer orders that arrive from production throughout the day
  • Package customer product sufficiently to make sure it is protected during shipment
  • Process orders in the UPS system as required
  • Forward customer orders to Shipper for processing
  • Report any product or equipment concerns to appropriate person
  • Maintain proper relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and outside contacts
  • Actively participate in any ABS (Altra Business 
    Systems) and ISO initiatives
  • Voluntarily make suggestions for improvements
  • Leadership in training and assisting other team members
  • Perform other duties and assist in other areas as needed

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical and procedure manuals and government regulations.
  • Ability to write routine reports, operating instructions, procedure manuals, and business correspondences.
  • Able to communicate well with other employees.
  • Ability to read blueprints and gauges and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Must pass a mechanical aptitude test.

Education and Experience Requirements     

High school diploma or equivalent, certified to operate lift trucks.  Previous experience in a warehouse shipping/receiving environment

Lifting requirements include but not limited to the following:

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
